I am fairly new to the breed but not to the dog world. I fell in love with a Saluki (Treasure) I saw in the ring with her owner/handler (Karen Black) and told myself one day that would be my next breed when I felt it was time to go to a smaller breed (weight wise not necessarily size wise). I was never able to work up the courage to actually talk to Mrs. Black but would look for her in the ring.
Several years passed and during that time I was reading up on the breed and learning as much as I could on my own. My first actual involvement with the breed is when Darby (rescue Saluki) entered my life.
I am currently owned by 3 Salukis Darby, Charlie (feathered) and his littermate Miraj (smooth). Both Charlie and Raj are pointed toward their Championship, and I plan to continue attending shows with them and hopefully doing some Lure Coursing in the future.
I also have Rhodesian Ridgebacks, but as they age and leave me, I will continue on with Salukis. There are many qualities of the Saluki I value very highly including their independent nature and intelligence.
I am an associate member of the club because the distance is to great for me to attend almost all of the meetings.
